About Jackson Community Theater
Community theater has always played a major role in Jackson Hole. The first organized community theater was the Jackson Hole Theater Guild in 1920. Jackson Community Theater is proud to carry on this time-honored tradition of community theater here in the Hole.
Jackson Community Theater, re-established in 2002, has had several incarnations. Originally started as the Actors Co-op in 1978, it was taken over and renamed Jackson Hole Theatre Company in 1995. In 2002 it became clear we needed a dedicated community theater group with members who have a say in what productions we do, and directors and crew who are all volunteers from our community.
Jackson Community Theater has been embracing challenging, thought-provoking dramas, comedies & musicals including daring productions of the musicals "HAIR", "INTO THE WOODS", "I LOVE YOU, YOU'RE PERFECT, NOW CHANGE", "CUMBERLAND BLUES" and "COMPANY". Some of our comedies have been "MOON OVER BUFFALO", "STEEL MAGNOLIAS", "ODD COUPLE (Female Version)", "A BAD YEAR FOR TOMATOES". Dramas including Agatha Christie's classic, "THE MOUSETRAP", "GHOST TRAIN", "PROOF", "WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOLFF?" and "VAGINA MONOLOGUES". We also present our annual "NIGHT OF ONE-ACTS" with a variety of subject matters. We are the only theatre group in Jackson to produce murder mystery dinner/dessert shows such as "THE DEATH OF DR. PEPPER", "POLTERHEIST" and "MURDER RIDES AGAIN...in JACKSON HOLE".
Anyone interested in getting involved with community theatre are invited and encouraged to join in, either on stage or behind the scenes.
Jackson Community Theater is a proud member of the American Association of Community Theatres(AACT) and Wyoming State winner for 2011 & 2013
