About the Exhibit
Invisible in Plain Sight – Invisible a Plena Vista is a journey into the secrets, untold stories, and pain points of the immigrant experience in the Teton region. This photojournalism exhibition will share the underbelly of the American Dream and ask the question, “what price was paid to live in the wealthiest county in the United States?”

The exhibition will feature the portraits and stories of 10 immigrants from around the world currently living in Jackson Hole. The exhibition will include scenes from their daily lives and share oral histories of their journeys to Wyoming, their experience acclimating culturally to a new country, and their hopes for the future told in their own words. The exhibition gives priority to the native languages of the participants to simulate for viewers the experience of being included and excluded based on language.

Invisible in Plain Sight – Invisible a Plena Vista is funded in part with an Arts For All grant provided by Teton County and the Town of Jackson, in part by a grant from the Wyoming Arts Council with support from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Wyoming Legislature, a grant from Jackson Hole Travel & Tourism Board, a Community Artist grant from Jackson Hole Public Art, and a WESTAF Bipoc Artist Fund grant, and is sponsored by the Center for the Arts and Voices Jackson Hole.

Invisible in Plain Sight – Invisible a Plena Vista es un viaje dentro de los secretos, historias no contadas, y puntos de dolor de la experiencia inmigrante en la región de los Tetons. Esta exhibición de fotoperiodismo compartirá el vientre del Sueño Americano y se preguntará, “qué precio fue pagado para vivir en el condado más rico de los Estados Unidos?”

La exhibición se enfocará en los retratos e historias de 10 inmigrantes de diferentes países que actualmente viven en Jackson Hole. Invisible in Plain Sight incluirá escenas de sus vidas diarias y compartirá historias orales de sus viajes a Wyoming, experiencia de aclimatación cultural a un nuevo país, y sus esperanzas para el futuro contadas con sus propias palabras. La exhibición da prioridad a los idiomas nativos de los participantes para simular a los espectadores la experiencia de ser incluido o excluido basado en los diferentes tipos de idiomas.

About Jessyca
Jessyca Vianey Valdez Perez is a photographer from Toluca, Mexico. She began pursuing photography 5 years ago when she moved to Jackson, Wyoming, and her passion is to shed light on the untold stories of the immigrant experience. She has completed advanced photography coursework through UNAVID: Escuela de Fotografía in Toluca, Mexico. Jessyca is a WESTAF BIPOC Artist Fund awardee, JH Public Art Community Artist and Arts for All recipient. Jessyca works as a Community Mobilizer for Voices JH, and as a housekeeper.

Jessyca Vianey Valdez Perez es una fotógrafa de Toluca, México. Ella comenzó a dedicarse a la fotografía hace 5 años cuando se mudó a Jackson, Wyoming, y su pasión es arrojar luz sobre las historias no contadas de la experiencia inmigrante. Ella ha completado cursos de fotografía avanzada a través de UNAVID: Escuela de Fotografía en Toluca, México. Jessyca es una una Artista Comunitaria de JH Public Art, y una beneficiaria de WESTAFF BIPOC Artist Fund y Arts for All. Jessyca trabaja como una Movilizadora Comunitaria de Voices Jackson Hole, y también como ama de llaves.
