The Farthest: Voyager in Space
A finalist in four categories in Jackson Hole WILD’s 2018 Science Media Awards, this captivating documentary tells the tale of NASA’s Voyager mission. Voyager revolutionized planetary science and gave us a new understanding of the outer solar system.
Interviews with over 20 Voyager team members bring to life one of humankind’s greatest achievements in exploration, from the near-disasters at launch to the Golden Record, which carried messages and music from Earth for aliens to find in the future. Decades after taking flight, the twin spacecraft continue to transmit data, and in 2012, Voyager 1 became the first human-made object to push beyond our solar system”ushering humanity into the interstellar age.
This special screening is courtesy of Crossing the Line Productions, HHMI Tangled Bank Studies, and Irish Film Board for PBS.
A New View of the Moon
A finalist in the 2018 Science Media Awards Micro Movie category, this 3-minute short changes your perspective of things on Earth.
This special screening is courtesy of Wylie Overstreet and Alex Gorosh.
Explore the Night Skies
Rain or shine, after the films, Wyoming Stargazing will offer a captivating tour of the night sky in the Center for the Arts park through telescopes. In the case of inclement weather, attendees will enjoy the show from inside an inflatable planetarium.
