About The Elliot Plays by Quiara AlegrÃa Hudes
Elliot, a Soldier’s Fugue traces the legacy of war through three generations of a Puerto Rican family.
In Water by the Spoonful, “Elliot has returned from Iraq and is struggling to find his place in the world. Somewhere in a chat room, recovering addicts forge an unbreakable bond of support and love. The boundaries of family and community are stretched across continents and cyberspace as birth families splinter and online families collide.”
In Happiest Song Plays Last, “an activitst-turned-music professor moonlights as a local soup kitchen queen, cooking free rice and beans for any hungry neighbor. Halfway around the world, her cousin relives his military trauma on the set of a docudrama that’s filming in Jordan. With the Egyptian revolution booming in the distance, these two young adults try to sing a defiant song of legacy and love in the face of local and global unrest.”
Off Square Theatre is partnering with the Wyoming Humanities Council to bring enrichment opportunities around Off Square’s production of Water by the Spoonful by Quiara AlegrÃa Hudes with humanities scholar Dr. Karin Waidley.
