Tribal Talks: Indifly Short Films: Ecotourism on the Wind River Reservation

In this short film series Indifly works alongside Indigenous communities to innovate ways for Indigenous communities to write their own future. The work at Indifly exemplifies how Indigenous communities have the power to solve the world’s most pressing societal and environmental challenges. In these short film presentations, we focus on the Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapaho Tribes.  The Wind River Indian Reservation is one of the most spectacular wild and remote places in the lower 48. The 2.3-million-acre Reservation includes some of the best fishing in Wyoming with over 1,100 miles of streams and 265 lakes containing a variety of trout species and attracting visitors from across the country.

Arthur Lawson serves as the director of the Shoshone & Arapaho Tribal Fish and Game, located in Fort Washakie, Wyoming, on the Wind River Reservation. He began his tenure with the Tribal Fish and Game Department as a game warden in 2015. Before this, he worked as a police officer with the BIA Police Department-Wind River Agency. Arthur is deeply committed to protecting natural resources and emphasizes the importance of conservation education among tribal members on the Wind River Reservation. His passion for the outdoors and conservation aligns closely with his professional responsibilities.
