John Byrne Cooke was Janis Joplin’s road manager for the last three years of her career. His rarely-seen films of touring with Joplin offer a unique, personal view of this iconic star. This event benefits the Jackson Hole Writers Conference, which is recognized as one of the most respected conferences in the country. To make the conference affordable to a wide range of aspiring writers, JHWC keeps its fees as low as possible. Tuition covers only 40% of the conference’s annual budget; fundraising is an essential part of enabling Jackson Hole Writers to continue to present a conference that will encourage and inspire the attendees.

The June 11 event will include live music by John Cooke and friends. John will introduce the films, and after the program he will sign copies of his recent memoir, On the Road with Janis Joplin, in the theater lobby.
