Opening Reception: January 13th, 5-6:30pm
Artist Talk: January 16th, 4-5pm
Artist Nicole Cochary explores how the landscapes that surround us impact our ideas, feelings and sense of self. Her work seeks to define what home means, including our larger surroundings. This involves collecting on a small scale: tchotchkes and miscellaneous objects and on a large scale: landscapes outside the home. These big and small collections present themselves in surreal environments, with characters and backgrounds existing both in reality and dreams. Through her paintings, she hopes to encourage the viewer to question their notions of residence and ideas of attachment to these places.
