The Nature Mapping Jackson Hole Community Celebration, aka “Potluck” is April 10, 2019 at Center for the Arts. Featured speaker Taylor Chapple will give a multi-media presentation titled The Science of Sharks: Using Technology to Separate Fact from Fiction.” The presentation will follow the annual Nature Mapping potluck dinner, which celebrates the volunteer data contributions of citizen scientists in our community.

Dr. Chapple and his research has been featured on the Discovery Channel and on CBS This Morning among other programs. Dr. Chapple will share discoveries from 15 years of research across three oceans tagging, tracking and trying to understand these apex predators. He will explore why need need to change our current mantra of fear and apprehension of sharks to one of awe and appreciation. Dr. Chapple’s work to educate the public on one of the most misunderstood predators provides an example to replicate around the world, including here in Jackson Hole.

Doors open at 5:00 pm for appetizers, mingling and raffle.
