Jackson Hole WILDand WyomingPBS are joining forces to host the Wyoming premiere of a new four-part series from Providence Pictures that will air nationwide on PBS stations later this fall.
Weaving modern science with living indigenous traditions and oral histories, the series “Native America” will bring to life a land of massive cities connected by social networks spanning two continents, with unique and sophisticated systems of science, art and writing. The series will reveal an ancient and still thriving culture whose splendor and ingenuity is only now beginning to be fully understood and appreciated.
To start the evening off with flair, the Young Falcon Drum Group and Dance Society from the Arapahoe, Wyo., schools will treat the audience to dances and songs in traditional dress.
The event will then feature Episode 4, “New Worlds Rising.” The episode reveals Native American cultural continuity in the face of genocidal warfare and history’s worst demographic devastation.
