Moments: A Commonplace Book by Agnes Bourne
A project of the Center’s 2020 Creative in Residence: Sustain
The Center is thrilled to announce the book launch for MOMENTS, the Commonplace Book designed and published by Agnes Bourne.
MOMENTS is a book that contains words, images and blank pages intended to help us take time to refresh and reflect at any given moment. Commonplace books have a long history going back at least as far as the Renaissance. Traditionally, they have been filled with recipes, quotes, letters, poems, ideas, proverbs, prayers and sketches. This project is a collaboration with the members of the Commonplace Group-an open lyceum inviting artists and writers to share their work and favorite quotes from other public sources with the hope that these will inspire new ideas, refresh our thinking and brighten our day.
From Agnes Bourne: I decided to dedicate my next twenty-five years to pulling from my experiences and inspiring others to do the same. I believe that when we take a moment to observe and pay attention to the moment, we can get more out of our lives. Commonplace Books are meant to record what inspires us, so that we don’t forget and as a way to collect and share these moments with others.
