Meditation & Writing Workshop with Connie Wieneke

Presented in collaboration with Center for the Arts, Teton County Library and JH Writers
Meditation is rooted in the Latin verb meditari which means to “think, contemplate, devise, ponder.” The Tibetan word for meditation, gom, encourages one “to become familiar with oneself”.
Writing and meditation are ancient ways of attending to the world and to yourself. These workshops will provide a space where we can perform a bit of alchemy, in a quiet setting. During guided meditation, participants will have the opportunity to go “inside,” observe without attachment, and stay loyal to the feelings that arise.
Each session will have two short guided meditations, followed by a longer writing session. Participants will be invited to share, if desired. Please bring writing materials (paper and pen, laptop, or smartphone), refreshments you need, warm clothing, and a comfortable chair.
Connie Wieneke lives, writes and sometimes meditates in Jackson Hole. Her poetry and prose has been published in numerous journals and anthologies. She is a certified yoga teacher. In 1991 she received an MFA from the University of Montana and is the recipient of two literary fellowships from Wyoming Arts Council.
