La China Sonidera

¡Directo desde Oaxaca, México, La China Sonidera llega a Jackson Hole con toda la fuerza de la cumbia moderna — en su primera presentación en Estados Unidos!La China Sonidera llega desde Oaxaca con diez músicos y una poderosa mezcla de instrumentos: guitarras, güira, congas, timbales, guacharaca, acordeón, batería, bajo, metales, clarinete, teclado y voces. Sus letras sirven como guía creativa, sumando capas de sonido en un proceso musical vibrante.

“La China” honra a las Chinas oaxaqueñas, figuras femeninas tradicionales del baile regional, y también a la herencia de su vocalista Georgina Saldaña Wonchee, nieta de un inmigrante chino en México.

“Sonidera” hace referencia a la tradición de músicos que recorren pueblos reuniendo a la comunidad para celebrar la música, el baile y la vida. Inspirado en la cumbia colombiana y su evolución en México, el movimiento Sonidero transforma las calles en una fiesta colectiva sin límites.

Making their U.S. debut, La China Sonidera hails from Oaxaca, Mexico, and brings together ten musicians and a vibrant blend of instruments—guitars, güira, congas, timbales, guacharaca, accordion, drums, bass, horns, clarinet, keyboard, and vocals. Their songs are built layer by layer, guided by lyrics and a collaborative, high-energy creative process.

The name “La China” honors the Chinas Oaxaqueñas—iconic female figures from traditional Oaxacan dance—and nods to the heritage of lead singer Georgina Saldaña Wonchee, granddaughter of a Chinese immigrant to Mexico.

“Sonidera” refers to a long-standing tradition of traveling musicians who gather communities in the streets to celebrate music, dance, and life itself. Drawing inspiration from Colombian cumbia and its evolution in Mexico, the Sonidero movement is all about joy, connection, and the power of sound without boundaries.
