“Join SheJumps for a night full of ski and snowboard films that focus on diverse athletes and highlight some of the talent within the Tetons! We will be showing The Approach, Precious Leader Woman, Stio’s Out West: A Film About Courage and Community, and Stio’s High Points: The Bicentennial Project. These films elevate the voices and talents of people of color, women, and adaptative athletes in their snowy endeavors through the mountains. After the films we will have a Q&A session with athletes and the crews involved in making some of these amazing films. You will see some locals up on stage and have the opportunity to ask them how they got there. We will wrap up the night with a raffle of awesome prizes from Stio, Arc’teryx, Highpoint Cider, Halfdays, and other local partners! All proceeds from the raffle will help SheJumps achieve the goal of getting more women and girls into the outdoors.

Precious Leader Woman: Hailing from the remote village of Alert Bay, B.C., Spencer O’Brien is a world-renowned snowboarder. In 2014, she was expected to win gold at the Sochi Olympics, but when she placed 12th, fans were shocked. What few people knew is that Spencer was suffering from Rheumatoid Arthritis, hiding a debilitating pain that impacted her ability to compete. After the defeat, she retreated to her hometown in traditional Kwakwaka’wakw territory. There, with the guidance of her family and close-knit community, she reconnected with her Indigenous culture, helping her regain the strength to reenter the sport and defy all odds. The documentary PRECIOUS LEADER WOMAN invites us into Spencer’s world and gives us an intimate look at the determination and grit required to chase big dreams, revealing that our roots are often our biggest strength.

The Approach: Whether taking turns breaking trail or finding our own unique paths down, the tracks we leave behind are the perfect expression of each person’s individual contribution as well as what we can collectively accomplish. Follow along these unique tracks with The Approach, an action-driven ski and snowboard film elevating people of color, women, and adaptive athletes.

High Points: The Bicentennial Project: After six years of pushing peaks, Stio Ambassador Christy Mahon became the 7th person and the first woman to ski all of Colorado’s 14ers in 2010. That was just the beginning of what would become a project of epic magnitude. In 2016 Christy, alongside her husband Ted Mahon and friend Chris Davenport, became the first people to summit and ski Colorado’s 100 highest peaks. It was an accomplishment that earned Christy and team a nomination for National Geographic’s Adventurers Of The Year Award in 2016. Now, Christy’s pursuit of backyard adventure continues as she and Ted work to ski the Bicentennials, Colorado’s second hundred highest peaks.

Out West: A Film about Courage and Community: With equal parts hustle and humility, Stephen Shelesky has established himself as one of the outdoor industry’s most promising up and coming photographers. But his story hasn’t always been polished and perfect. For a long time, photography helped Stephen Shelesky deny who he was. It was a distraction and an outlet for an internal struggle around his sexuality. This all changed when he found himself in Jackson, Wyoming. Out West is a film about Stephen’s journey to find the courage, confidence and community needed to embrace his sexuality and express his true self.”
