It Was Just an Accident is a 2025 Iranian political thriller directed by Jafar Panahi, about a mechanic who believes he has identified the former torturer from his time as a political prisoner. The mechanic, Vahid, takes the man captive and enlists the help of other former prisoners to decide whether to enact revenge, leading to a moral debate about justice and vengeance. The film blends a gripping thriller with political commentary, exploring the psychological and emotional consequences of oppression.
