Game Rangers International partners with Jackson Hole philanthropists to revitalize wildlife in southern Zambia. The resulting Rufunsa Conservation Project empowers women entrepreneurs and educates villagers about the importance of protecting their natural resources. Join us at the Center for the Arts on March 13th at 6:00 PM for a fascinating presentation including short films, engaging photos and speakers who are passionate about the GRI mission to Rescue Wildlife, Empower Communities and Stop Poaching.

The Rufunsa Conservation Project is in an 800,000 acre Game Management Area depleted of its wildlife yet unique in its landscape. The intact ecosystem of plains, escarpment, Zambezi and Luangwa Rivers shares two trans frontier borders with Zimbabwe and Mozambique. It borders Lower Zambezi National Park which is across the Zambezi from mana Pools National Park in Zimbabwe. The small communities in the area live off the land, agriculture and fishing.

Poaching has depleted the area yet GRIs presence for the past two years has already fostered partnerships with the local people to improve agricultural and livestock practices, build cottage industries and reduce poaching with game ranger patrols and education in the communities. Game Ranger’s International also rescues elephant orphans, most of whom have lost their mothers to poachers. The presentation will include information about GRIs thriving orphanage and release facility. They are always looking for volunteers.
