Frank’s Fall Film Festival honors the legacy of Frank Londy, the man who brought the magic of cinema to Jackson Hole, by featuring exceptional films carefully curated by those who were closest to him. Frank Londy moved to Jackson Hole in 1972. He started Sunshine Films that same year, opened the Jackson Hole Cinema on Pearl Street in 1977, and the Movieworks Cinema in 1991. In 1990, he started “Frank’s Fall Film Festival” which called the Twin Cinema its home every fall for nearly 30 years. For Frank, the festival was a way to bring films just outside the mainstream, films that exemplified the unique magic and emotional power of the movies, to the people of Jackson. And he loved the process of curating the films.

For a long time, Frank picked films based on descriptions and reviews alone because films were shot and shown only on celluloid. But with the shift to digital and streaming, it became important to Frank to curate a festival that people could not watch at home. He strongly believed that a huge part of the magic of the movies is the shared experience: Sitting in the dark with strangers and friends, staring up at the flickering light on the silver screen, while experiencing sadness, laughter, fear, curiosity, and joy. Together.

Frank passed away December of 2021 at the age of 75, but the Festival will continue on in his honor, his legacy, and in gratitude for the man who brought the magic of the movies to Jackson Hole.

The festival runs Friday October 4th through Sunday October 6th at the Center for the Arts with a weekend of 6 films which aim to reflect Frank’s own film selection process. The series will continue through the spring as we feature one Film each month to continue honoring Frank’s legacy and bring quality independent films to the people of Jackson.

For access to all 6 films festival passes will be available August 16th at 10:00 AM. All film titles will be announced September 10, individual tickets will be available for purchase September 13 at 10:00 AM.
