About the Artist
Ephraim Heller began photographing nature and his family as a 10-year-old child in rural Massachusetts, where he ran barefoot in the forest and swam in ponds with turtles and snakes. Heller was fascinated by old mechanical cameras, which he took apart but could never reassemble. One day, Heller attempted underwater photography in a backyard pond by putting his camera in a plastic bag. It didn’t end well. Another time, his father loaned him his camera, which was a relatively expensive item for their family. As Heller rode his bicycle, he broke off the lens in the spokes. For 30 years thereafter, his father offered to sell me camera insurance. After a career in the medical device industry, Heller moved to Jackson Hole in 2012 and in 2020 was able to again pursue to his childhood photography passion, but this time with better gear.
