The Center Welcomes Chris Lea as New Board Chair, Recognizes David Hopkins for His Leadership

JACKSON, WY— The Board of Directors of Center for the Arts is pleased to announce the election of Chris Lea as the organization’s newest Board Chair. Mr. Lea takes the reins from David Hopkins, who served in the role from September 2020 through September 2024.

While reluctant to take the spotlight, Mr. Lea has established himself as a leader for the organization and agreed to take on the role of Board Chair after an outpouring of support from his peers. “I am honored to support an organization that helps make Jackson a wonderful place to live. The Center has thrived under David’s leadership, and I look forward to building on that momentum,” said Mr. Lea.

Mr. Lea started coming to Jackson in the late 1970s. In 2016, he moved to the valley full-time. Mr. Lea retired from a career in law in 2018 and now serves as a Director for the national nonprofit Trust for Public Land. His extensive legal expertise and commitment to preserving public spaces make him an ideal fit to carry forward The Center’s mission to connect and enrich the community through arts and culture.

Center for the Arts extends a heartfelt thank you to David Hopkins, who worked tirelessly as Board Chair for four years. Mr. Hopkins successfully guided the organization through the COVID-19 pandemic and ushered in an era of open communication and mutual support between The Center’s 20 Resident Nonprofit Partners.

Because of David, the future is bright for the Center for the Arts.”

As Chris Lea assumes his new position, the organization is further supported by his fellow officers, Vice Chair Kevin Crawford, Treasurer Reece Jenkins, and Secretary Lindsay Wilcox. Through their leadership, The Center looks forward to continuing its work of making artistic experience central to Jackson Hole.
