Join the Snake River Headwaters Watershed Group at The Center Theater for a special evening celebration featuring Kevin Fedarko, acclaimed author of The Emerald Mile and A Walk in the Park. Through gripping storytelling and lessons from the Colorado River and the Grand Canyon, Fedarko invites us to reflect on the future of our own watershed and the shared responsibility we carry for the river that sustains our community.
The evening includes a community gathering, opportunities to connect with SRHWG members, and a book signing with the author. Both books will be available for purchase before the presentation.
Doors open at 6:00 PM
Presentation begins at 7:00 PM
This event is free, but tickets are required. You do not need to attend the full-day Symposium to join the evening event—everyone is welcome.

About the Keynote
Kevin Fedarko has spent 20 years writing about adventure, conservation, exploration, and the Grand Canyon. His writing has appeared in National Geographic, The New York Times, and Esquire, among other publications, and a trio of his stories from the Himalayas, the Horn of Africa, and the Colorado River are anthologized in The Best American Travel Writing. Kevin is the author of The Emerald Mile: The Epic Story of the Fastest Ride in History through the Heart of the Grand Canyon, which won the National Outdoor Book Award and the Reading the West Award, was a finalist for a PEN/ESPN Literary Sports Writing Award and the Banff Mountain Book Award, and became a New York Times bestseller. Kevin’s latest book, A Walk in the Park: The True Story of a Spectacular Misadventure in the Grand Canyon, about his 14-month death-defying odyssey through the Canyon with National Geographic photographer Pete McBride, was also listed as a New York Times bestseller, also won the National Outdoor Book Award, and received the 2025 Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Nonfiction.
