The Snake River Headwaters Symposium

The Snake River Headwaters Symposium is a full-day gathering of scientists, water users, agencies, nonprofits, businesses, and community members dedicated to the health and resilience of our watershed, hosted by the Snake River Headwaters Watershed Group (SRHWG).

The Snake River Headwaters are central to the ecological, cultural, and economic vitality of our region. Stretching from Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks down through working lands and national forests, this watershed provides clean drinking water, supports wildlife, recreation, and agriculture, and shapes our region’s identity. But increasing pressures—from water-quality concerns to a changing climate—demand collaborative, science-based solutions.

The SRHWG works to unite diverse interests around shared stewardship of the watershed. The Symposium is our flagship event, expanding this work to the broader community. Through engaging presentations, panels, workshops, and networking opportunities, participants will dive into topics including watershed management, habitat restoration, water quality, recreation, and the cultural and economic value of the Snake River. Together, we’ll explore the most pressing issues facing our watershed and inspire collaborative, science-based solutions for the future.

This year’s keynote speaker is Kevin Fedarko, acclaimed author of The Emerald Mile. Through gripping storytelling and lessons from the Colorado River, Fedarko will spark conversation about what the Snake can learn from other iconic watersheds.

Tickets are $25 plus $3 service charge for the full day and include the evening keynote.

The evening keynote presentation is free and open to the public. Tickets for those who wish to attend only the keynote can be acquired here.

The SRHWG seeks for the Symposium to be accessible and inclusive to all. If you are in need of a free or discounted ticket, you may use codes Watershed100 (free) or Watershed50 (50% off).
