Pinback is an American indie rock band from San Diego, California that is at the heart of some of the most complex, postmodern indie pop to come out of the west coast. The band was formed in 1998 by singers, songwriters, and multi-instrumentalists Armistead Burwell “Zach” Smith IV and Rob Crow. The two are still at the center of the band and have released five studio albums together. According to Pitchfork Music Reviewer, Ian Cohen,  "Crow and bassist Armistead Burwell Smith IV don't overlap so much as interlock like gears and cogs."

Pinback has built a devoted following in the indie-rock underground on the strength of its overlapping melodies, fluid rhythms, and subtly complex arrangements,” Jim DeRogatis, Chicago Sun-Times.

We are thrilled to have Pinback coming to The Center. They have a cult following and have been tricky to find on tour over the last five-plus years,” says Willi Brooks, Event Operations Director at Center for the Arts. “As indie bands coming out of the late 90s go, Pinback have as loyal a following as anyone. There will be fans who are ecstatic to see these guys on tour again. For locals who aren’t familiar, this is a chance to hear something special and to expand that Modest Mouse or Band of Horses part of your music library.”
