Join the Wildlife Film Festival, Center of Wonder, Teton Raptor Center and Craighead Beringia South for a family day celebrating the raptors of Jackson Hole.
Throughout the weekend, families can participate in Cornell University's annual Great Backyard Bird Count with Craighead Beringia South. On Sunday, from noon to 2:00 p.m., the Teton Raptor Center will host a half-price ($5) open house at its Hardeman Barn facility in Wilson.
Then from 5:30-7:00 p.m., visit the Center for the Arts to meet biologists, raptors and the makers of the film "The Legend of Pale Male." The Teton Raptor Center will introduce Rosie the Red-Tail Hawk in the lobby, while Craighead Beringia South biologists will collect Great Backyard Bird Count sheets, demonstrate radio tracking and share current research.
Children can make raptor valentines and masks with the Center of Wonder. Last-minute Valentines Day shoppers can pick up something special made by local artists. And everyone can enjoy treats and snacks for sale in the Theater Lobby.
Finally, a free family-friendly premiere screening of the film "The Legend of Pale Male" will begin at 7:00 p.m. This 90-minute film by by Producer-Director Frederic Lilien and Writer-Producer Janet Hess tells the true story of how a young hawk laid claim to Central Park and set in motion a chain of events that united New York City. Frederic Lilien's first film, "Pale Male," aired in 75 countries and garnered 15 international awards. After 16 years following Pale Male and New York’s love affair with the bird, Lilien reworked and updated the film for "The Legend of Pale Male," his first theatrical release.
