This is the fourth year Dancers’ Workshop has created a Summer residence for this legendary Ballet company. Made up of 20 principals, soloists,and corps de ballet, the artistry of New York City Ballet MOVES inspires awe in every performance. We continue to develop our relationship by expanding community access to these world-class artists through performances, master classes, open rehearsals, and special events. In exchange, the New York City Ballet dancers, musicians, and staff who come to Jackson say it is a highlight of their touring schedule every year.

5:00 - 6:00pm Lecture with Jerome Robbins film – $10 Suggested Donation
Never heard of Jerome Robbins? No problem! This lecture is a chance to watch rare historical footage of New York City Ballet and learn about the influential Ballet and Broadway choreographer Jerome Robbins. The event will include a short film about Jerome Robbins narrated by NYCB Ballet Master in Chief, Peter Martins, followed by the New York Export film Opus Jazz, and finishing with a group panel discussion with Peter Martins, Jean-Pierre Frolich, Sean Suozzi (the film’s director), and dancers featured in the film.

1:30pm Matinee Lecture/Demonstration Performance – $20 Admission
Get a closer look at the process of rehearsing and performing a new ballet! Choreographer Justin Peck, NYCB dancers, and musicians will demonstrate the process of developing and practicing new work, finishing off with a performance of Justin Peck’s piece 7 (For Seven) and a question and answer session with Justin, the dancers, and the musicians, all guided and moderated by NYCB dancer and instructor Jonathan Stafford.
