A sell-out crowd gathered for TEDxJacksonHole at Center for the Arts on October 5, 2012. Eight speakers from across the West came together to share ideas connected by the theme of DISCOVERY.

Featured speakers included Dr. Paul Cox, whose international research at the Institute for Ethnomedicine has produced two drugs that are wending their way through FDA approval to fight ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). Biology professor John Hafernik, president of the California Academy of Sciences, talked about enlisting the help of citizen-scientists across the country to identify “ZomBees” - honeybees who are infected by the parasitic zombie fly.

TEDxJacksonHole was sponsored in part by the Center for the Arts, Cultural Council of Jackson Hole, Jackson Hole Travel & Tourism Board, Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival, Wyoming Arts Council and Wyoming Humanities Council. Special thanks to the local food vendors who participated in this event: Everest Momo Shack, Pica’s Mexican Taqueria and MIX Yogurt Bar.
